This resource, ‘Getting Started’, was developed to support the series of Induction Workshops which were held by the National Centre in 2015.

It is a resource for educators new to embedding literacy and numeracy in a tertiary teaching environment and has been designed to provide information to some of the questions new educators might ask themselves, such as:

  • What are the Learning Progressions and what is the ‘3 knowings framework’?
  • What is embedded literacy and numeracy?
  • How do I know my learner?
  • How do I know the demands?
  • How do I know what to do?
  • What literacy and numeracy resources can support my learners?
  • How can I learn more?
  • How can I keep up-to-date?

This resource will introduce you to Embedded Literacy and Numeracy (ELN), the Learning Progressions, the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool and Pathways Awarua.
