Assessment Tool: Writing - Write it up!

Using the writing assessment to maximise learner writing skills.

Audience: This workshop is suitable for educators who want to improve their teaching of writing and who are currently using or planning to use the Assessment Tool: Writing.

Fee: Free

Description: You will learn how to improve teaching writing skills.

The Assessment Tool: Writing, offers a framework for assessing and developing learners' writing. With an equal focus on diverse aspects of writing such as spelling, vocabulary, linking ideas and quality of thinking, the Tool has the potential to motivate and inform learners about how to dramatically improve their writing.  Educators who master the writing framework will be able to make significant contributions toward supporting and developing their learners’ writing skills. They will also be able to contribute to their own in-house professional development practice with colleagues. This workshop links to the ‘Three Knowings’ framework, (Knowing the Demands, Knowing the Learner, and Knowing What to Do).

Intended outcomes:

  • Expanded range of teaching writing skills
  • Increased understanding of the writing process.
  • Increased competence and confidence in administering and assessing writing.
