The vision for the Ministry of Social Development is for an inclusive New Zealand where all people are able to participate in the social and economic life of their communities. This means working towards overcoming the barriers that some New Zealanders experience in finding employment and participating fully in community life.
To achieve this, the Ministry of Social Development has a strong focus on the skills development of adult and young New Zealanders to support more people into sustainable employment. The Ministry supports initiatives that are focused on training and education, building the literacy and numeracy skills of New Zealanders so they are in employment, purposefully engaged and contributing to New Zealand's economy and society.
