Key words/ideas: Pythagoras; square numbers; inverse operations

Purpose: This unit is designed to help tutors who teach courses that use Pythagoras Theorem to calculate the side lengths of right angled triangles.

Tutor outcomes: By the end of the unit tutors should be able to:

1. Recognise contexts and problems that can be solved using Pythagoras Theorem

2. Develop lessons in their teaching context that help learners to solve problems using Pythagoras Theorem
