2. Writing with purpose

- In Section A we discussed the importance of seeing writing as an interactive tool that is used for a range of purposes. As learners develop their expertise in writing they use their knowledge and skills to create texts to meet a widening range of purposes.
- Central to this developing expertise is seeing themselves as writers who select language and text features according to their purpose for writing and with their audience in mind.
- By introducing writing tasks with real-life (authentic) purposes, educators can more effectively encourage learners to consider their audience.
