When using the guide you will see that, in the additional information column, words are grouped into simple, common and difficult words.

It is necessary to distinguish between these groupings.

  • simple words: high frequency, single syllable words with very common letter patterns
  • common words: familiar everyday words, familiar topic words
  • difficult words: less familiar, specialised, multi-syllabic
