There are 8 marking criteria.

Each criterion provides information linked to the Learning Progressions: Write to Communicate). These criteria are:

  1. Purpose and audience
  2. Spelling
  3. Language choices
  4. Punctuation of sentences
  5. Punctuation within sentences
  6. Sentence structure
  7. Text cohesion
  8. Quality of ideas
