Module 1: Knowing your learners’ writing skills

This module focuses on understanding the writing skills of your learners. The module covers:

  • the reasons why you need to know your learners' writing skills
  • administering and marking writing assessments from the assessment tool
  • interpreting reports generated by the assessment tool

Module 2: Acting on information about your learners’ writing: next steps

This module helps educators use the information about their learners’ writing skills to plan their teaching. The module covers:

  • identifying specific strengths and areas to work on
  • planning activities for learners to develop the writing skills required by the demands of their workplace, training or studies.
  • deliberate acts of teaching to support learners to improve their writing

Module 3: Making the most of opportunities to strengthen your learners’ writing

This module is about creating and making the most of opportunities to strengthen learners’ writing. The module covers:

  • understanding yourself as a writer
  • getting learners started
  • looking for opportunities for learners to transfer their writing skills from one context to another
