Case Study Seven:Literacy and Numeracy Ideas Involved
|
Leigh Anderton working with Art and Design students Ramene Ihaia, Stephanie Mooney, and Dawson Tepu
• A key purpose of assessment is to inform the learner and support the development of lifelong learning.
• For literacy and numeracy outcomes, as with any learning outcome: “Adult learners need to know why they’re learning, what they’re learning, and where it leads.” (Knowles, M, 1970/1990. The adult learner: a neglected species. Houston: Gulf Publishing)
• When using the ALNAT, learners should be fully informed about the purpose of an assessment and what they can expect to learn from doing an assessment. • Time should be allocated for discussing assessment results with learners.
